🐾 Meet Auggie — The Bravest Little Boxer Mix Looking for His Forever Home 🐾
Auggie may be young, but this sweet boy has already shown more resilience than most dogs ever have to. Born on 12/2/26, he came to our rescue in the back of a pickup truck alongside 11 littermates, all in need of safety and care. We quickly placed the puppies into loving foster homes, but it soon became clear that Auggie was facing a tougher battle than the rest.
Not long after settling in, his foster noticed swollen lymph nodes and painful blisters on his face. After a vet visit, Auggie was diagnosed with puppy strangles—a rare but very treatable autoimmune condition that can appear in litters. It isn’t contagious, but Auggie had one of the more severe cases. His immune system was working overtime, attacking his own body and making it hard for him to even eat solid food.
Thanks to immediate treatment with steroids and antibiotics, plus round‑the‑clock TLC from his foster family, Auggie began to heal. He was spoon‑fed wet food when his throat was too swollen, cuddled through the discomfort, and cheered on every step of the way.
And now?
Auggie is thriving.
His fur is growing back, his face is healing beautifully, and his joyful personality is shining through. He’s playful, affectionate, and so ready to leave his rough start behind.
