Take animal to have it scanned for a microchip. You can do this at any vet’s office free of charge or even at the Animal Shelter. Post pictures and location found in on the Lost and Found Pets pages on Facebook and post on Nextdoor as well. Make flyers and hang in the area. If you can not hold onto the animal reach out to local rescues or take the animal to Union County Animal Services located at 3340 Presson Rd, Monroe, NC 28112 where a 72hr stray hold will be done giving owners time to find their pet.

Can I surrender my pet with HSUC?

We don’t always have the ability to take in all owner surrenders as we are not a shelter, and our animals are in foster homes. If you are looking to surrender your pet, please email us at hsucinfo@gmail.com with pictures of your pet and a write up of everything we should know about your pet. In the event we can’t take your pet, please reach out to other local rescues to see if they have room and can help.
